David Hockney OLYMPIC GAMES MUNICH (THE DIVER) LIMITED HAND SIGNED EDITION, 1970.

The rare original colour lithograph on BFK Rives wove paper, printed before the posters, for the Olympische Spiele Munchen 1972.

Hand signed by David Hockney lower right in graphite, dated 1970, and numbered from the limited edition of 200. Published by Editions Olympia, Munich. 

 

 In excellent condition with full, clean margins and strong bright colours. An iconic and extremely sought after hand-signed lithograph.

 

For the 1972 Olympics, Hockney was commissioned to design a poster for the event. His iconic poster design featured a stylized representation of a swimmer diving into a pool, capturing the energy and spirit of the Olympic Games. The poster became widely recognized and is considered one of the most famous Olympic posters in history.

 

 "Olympische Spiele München 1972" stands as a testament to Hockney's ability to capture the essence of major events and cultural milestones through his art.
